Feb 12, 2012  "Why Can I Trust the Bible?"
Rob Minor
The Bible is the most read book in history.  It’s the bestselling book in history.  And it is the most translated book in history.  But the question is, "Can I trust it?"  Is it REALLY God’s Word?  If it is, what does that mean for my life?  This is the first of a 6 part series "40 Days in the Word."

Feb 5, 2012  "Fully Devoted"  Malachi 3:8-4:6
Rob Minor
This message concludes our study of Malachi. Malachi is a short book, only 55 verses, but it is powerful; for it pulls no punches in calling God's people to be fully devoted to Him.   The people and priests in Malachi's day were living complacent spiritual lives. They were God followers in name only for their heart wasn't with Him.  Malachi challenges us to examine our spiritual commitment and become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

JAN 29, 2012"Unchangeable God"  Malachi 2:17-3:7
Rob Minor

A breakdown in trust always leads to a breakdown in relationship.  The Hebrews were unwilling to surrender totally to God because they did not trust God. They accused God of being inconsistent and unfair in dispensing justice. God reminds us He never changes and ultimately His blessings are reserved for those who trust in Him.

JAN 22, 2012  "Marriage Matters"  Malachi 2:1-16         Lloyd Syvertsen
In “Marriage Matters”  Pastor Lloyd Syvertsen shows how the Israelites' casual commitment to God, which permeated their lives, was evident in their marriages as well.  In Malachi 1 2:1-16,  God rebukes Israel and its leaders for their casual commitment to marriage and challenges them to rediscover God's original design for the marriage relationship.

JAN 15, 2012  "All In"  Malachi 1:6-14
Rob Minor
God had a problem with the priests of Israel.  They were half-hearted in their commitment to Him.  They accepted inferior sacrifices, treated God's sacrifices with contempt.  Their worship was compromised because they were not all in for God.  When we are not all in for God we run the risk of taking the things important to God lightly and in effect we are no different than the priests.  Jesus said "Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength and mind." Luke 10:27.
That was God's desire for the priests and that's His desire for you and me.

JAN 8, 2012  "How I Love You"  Malachi 1:1-5
Rob Minor
Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament. The people of Israel were no longer held in captivity.  The city walls were rebuilt, the temple was rebuilt yet they were frustrated. Promised the glory of a Messiah and a Kingdom they were discouraged and impatient.  Under constant attack and failing crops they felt God had forgotten them.  Malachi exposes an attitude which is symptomatic of many Christians today.  They were guilty of a casual commitment to God.  This is a dangerous place for any Christ follower.  Malachi begins by addressing the root cause of casual commitment - failure to trust the love of God.  God assures us that regardless of your circumstances - He loves you.

DEC 18, 2011  "Bucket List"  Simeon's Song
"Nunc Dimittis"  (Luke 2:25-35)
Rob Minor
What do you want to accomplish before you die? That's a question posed by two terminally ill men in the movie "The Bucket List".   A bucket list is a list of the goals you want to accomplish before you die.The Bible tells the story of a man with a bucket list.  His name was Simeon.  Simeon's bucket list was different than most for there was only one thing on it.   His life revolved around this one passion. Nothing would bring Simeon more joy than to have this desire fulfilled. This Christmas, we can discover the joy Simeon experienced when we have the right bucket list.

DEC 11, 2011  "Pathway to Peace"  The Angel's Song "Gloria in Excelsis" (Luke 2:14)
Lloyd Syvertsen

"Peace" is not the word that most people would associate with the Christmas season.  In fact, "stress," is a more likely candidate. Yet peace is what was announced to the shepherds that first Christmas season by the angels.  This Sunday we will continue our series, "The Songs of Christmas" by taking a look at the Angel's Song and see how that same peace that was announced some 2000 years ago provides a pathway to peace today for all who welcome the "Prince of Peace."

DEC 04, 2011  "Prequel" Zechariah's Song
"The Benedictus"  (Luke1:67-79)
Rob Minor

Prequels provide us a picture of events leading up to the main story. It is often the story behind the story.  Zechariah’s song reveals the deep faith of the Jewish people on the eve of Messiah’s birth. For hundreds of years the people of God had been waiting for Messiah to come. Now at last he is almost here. The words of Zechariah take us to the story behind the story in the hearts of Godly Judaism as they waited for the Messiah and bring lessons for us today.

NOV 27, 2011  "Occupy:"....Mary's Song
"The Magnificat"  (Luke 1:48-55)
Rob Minor

Mary's song is a song of revolution.  She announced the coming of the greatest revolutionary of all time-Jesus Christ. When we invite Jesus to occupy our life the Kingdom of God becomes tangible in our world, exalting the humble, breaking down social and class barriers and using the resources God has provided care for the least among us.
